Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
